Six steps to a Green Office

1. Information about the programme

Browse the Green Office web pages. You can also attend a Green Office introduction event at WWF's office.

2. Sign a contract

Enter a collaboration agreement with WWF. An admission fee is payable on signing the contract. Once the contract has been formalised, the organisation will also receive a username for access to the Green Office network extranet, GOnet.

3. Create an environmental management system (EMS)

Upon joining the network, the organisation has a year to prepare a practical EMS for its office. The organisation selects a Green Office representative and a Green Office team from among its ranks. To help create the system, the organisation may use web-tools provided by WWF, which can be found on GOnet.

4. Arrange for an office inspection

When the EMS is ready, a WWF Green Office specialist will perform an inspection of your office premises. If the office passes this inspection, it will receive the Green Office diploma along with the right to use the Green Office logo. After the office inspection, the first annual fee will also be payable.

5. Report annually

Once the organisation has obtained the right to use the Green Office logo, it will start to report the key indicators it has chosen to WWF. In addition, the office's environmental programme will be updated every year. Reporting shall take place annually in the spring via the Climate Calculator web service and via email. WWF will send the reporting guidelines to the Green Office contact person every spring.

6. Develop and improve

An office with the Green Office designation should strive for constant development of its EMS and improvement of environmental awareness among its personnel. WWF will review the office premises every three years. During these reviews, fulfilment of the Green Office criteria and use of the Green Office logo will be monitored.
